"Yellow shirts" storm the border between Thailand and Cambodia
About 4 thousand members of the People's Alliance for Democracy, or "yellow shirts" jingoist public organization responsible for the seizure of Government House and the Bangkok International Airport in 2008, on Saturday morning, attempted to storm the guarded military-police cordons, disputed stretch of the border between Thailand and Cambodia , reported the Thai News Agency TNA.

According to the agency, attempt to storm was on the stretch of border near an ancient Hindu temple of Pra Viharn in Si Saket province.

"Yellow" against the "Red".

In 2008-2009, at the disputed territory there were several clashes between local residents on both sides and exchanges of fire between the Border Police of Thailand and the frontier troops of Cambodia. Currently, it is in a state of de facto quarantine pending bilateral decisions on the demarcation of the border. The conflict is, in whose territory is an ancient Hindu temple of Angkor Empire era, brought in the list of "World Heritage" by UNESCO.

In the last month the leaders of the "yellow shirts" stated that on the day when their opponents, "red shirts", held the mass rallies in Bangkok on the third anniversary of the military coup of 2006, they will organize a demonstration in the National Park Pra Viharn to demand that the Cambodian side of the stop claims to primordial Thai territory."

The history of the "Yellow shirts".

Movement "yellow shirts" appeared originally as a patriotic monarchist social organization, having set the goal to overthrow the Government of Thaksin Chinnovata (2001 - 2006 years). According to "yellow", it was "inclined to communism and populism", "riddled with corruption" and it "betrayed the interests of Thailand, selling foreigners the leading Thai company.

Chinnovata overthrew a military coup, supported by the "yellow shirt", September 19, 2006. When, after the transfer of power to civilian administration of Chinnovata party again won the general election, "yellow shirts" have become an informal opposition to the government. It was at that time when the seizure of Government House and the international airport Suvannaphumi hapenned. Since a coalition led by the Democratic Party had come to power "Yellow shirts" reduced their activity, as power had to maintain their political power.

Assault because of disagreements with the Democrats?

Demonstration and attempt to storm the disputed border area near the Temple of Preah Vihear - was their first mass action since the government came to power Democrats. Many analysts believe that between the "yellow" and the Democrats there were disagreements, which are not resolved to this day.

Government of Thailand, despite the fact that the "yellow shirts" - are consistent supporters of the current cabinet headed by the Democratic Party, has banned all public events at the disputed stretch of border. However, the demonstration started on Saturday morning, reports the website of the newspaper Bangkok Post.

According to the newspaper, about 4 thousand "yellow shirts" tried to break through cordons of police and army units on Saturday morning. Rebuffed, they made a second attempt at about noon.
